The Mercedes S-Class will have a new platform and hybrid options
It's time for changes in Mercedes-Benz . The German company is involved in a period of new models, updating existing ones including new technologies, and also, it is getting fully into the field of fully electric vehicles, with its EQ range, and hybrids.
In fact, the next generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the seventh in particular, will be developed around a completely new platform and will feature hybrid propulsion systems . We also know that it will only be available in its long battle version. Class S changes are coming, we will discover them.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is, together with the Audi A8 and the BMW 7 Series, one of the most luxurious and technologically advanced vehicles that exists today. The next generation of the Stuttgart vehicle is expected by 2020 , and could be available only in hybrid versions, with up to 100 kilometers of autonomy in 100% electric mode.
But that's not all, since its top version, it would be a completely electric variant called EQ S, which would be developed under the EQ division of Mercedes-Benz. This version, which in principle is expected by 2022, could cover 500 kilometers without stopping to recharge its batteries .
Regarding the engines , the hybrid versions of the Mercedes S-Class would have a 6-liter gasoline engine cylinders in line of 3 liters, and another diesel, also of 6 cylinders in line, of 2.9 liters. The most powerful version would carry a V8 engine developed by 4-liter AMG. All versions will be coupled to an electric motor located inside the automatic gearbox and that would be powered by batteries arranged along the floor of the vehicle.
While, the Mercedes S-Class EQ S it would move thanks to the strength of two electric motors , one located on the front axle and one on the rear axle. Thanks to this, it would have total traction and an all-electric power of around 550 horses.
It is rumored that the standard battle versions of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class could be eliminated from the range of the German model due to the increase in Class length E (now with 4.92 meters). Although at the moment there is no official confirmation, the new S-Class with long battle could reach up to 5.28 meters in length, so it would not make sense to launch to the market a version that would only have 10 centimeters less to be able to differentiate with respect to the Class E.
